Judge Rosalie Brady, of Bordercot Kennels in England, commented on Riker, and his sister Flicka after giving them BOB and BOS at the 1999 Specialty:

...have the most lovely heads. Truly typical. He obviously male (but with no signs of coarseness), and she the perfect feminine counterpart. To see them both gave me very great joy. But it was not their heads alone which won them their awards. They are both of outstanding quality and superb breed type all through, with excellent construction and exactly the right amount of bone and substance.

Five years later, in an article entitled "Flat-coated Retriever Head Type" in the Flat-Coated Retriever Society of Canada Newsletter Flat-Out, Mrs. Brady once again comments:

I hope that you will find someone who will be as kind to you as Dr. Laughton was to me when, at a show many years ago, and knowing that I had already asked her for advice on heads, she beckoned me over and said to me, "You see that dog there? That's the head to be looking for." I've never forgotten it. And that's the head I found on both my BOB (Ch. Inglis Prairie Solstice) and BOS (Ch. Inglis Prairie Race) when I judged your National Specialty in 1999. (p.20)

From the time he first appeared in the show ring, people in the dog fancy told me I had a "one in a million" dog. Riker is everything I could ever have hoped for - beautiful, smart, funny, and simply a joy to have around.

11 years old - July 2005

In the picture above, Riker is being shown in the Veteran's class at the 2002 Flat-Coated Retriever Society of Canada National Specialty. He is 8 years old and clearly enjoying himself. Riker has always loved the show ring and thinks any applause he hears is meant for him.
