Jayda has never enjoyed the show ring. She won a Best Puppy in Group at ten months of age and must have figured that win was good enough. We finished her Canadian championship and then moved on to other things.
Jayda is the foundation bitch for our kennel. Her first litter was bred under the "Inglis" prefix. The pup we kept from that litter succumbed to parvovirus, so we repeated the breeding under our "Northwood" prefix. The third litter was completely Jayda's idea, as we had no intention of breeding her more than twice. In three litters, she produced thirty-three pups and raised them without supplements from us. She was a fantastic mother.
Jayda's first love is tracking. She has demonstrated an ability to track in all types of ground cover and in all weather conditions. She easily earned her Tracking Dog title and is now working on her Tracking Dog Excellent title.
Jayda is the epitome of the "Peter Pan" nature of this breed. People who meet her for the first time comment on what a wonderful dog she is and put her age between four and five years. Jayda will be eleven years old in July, 2006! She is just as big a brat as she was as a youngster and has yet to realize she is considered a "super senior". We should all age as well as this girl.
